Julia Pasqua of Lilith's Attic deep dives into why Art Matters and the messages she has received as an outside-the-box modern Artist. We talk about everything from fear of rejection to AI Art, and why Art creates meaning, joy, and value in our lives and the world. I hope our conversation will spark your own creativity as we reimagine a world where Art Matters, and discuss the embodiment of Art as a Sacred Rebellion bringing us closer to our divine selves.

Ayn Rand famously said, "The question isn't who is going to let me; the question is who is going to stop me."
This is how I feel about being an Artist in our American culture. As Artists and creatives we receive a loud message from the culture about what is and isn't considered Art. What we can and can't do as Artists when we push the mold. We hear, "You won't make money, you'll be poor, it will be a hard life, you'll starve," and on, and on. The stories we are fed are maddening, especially when we decide to say YES I CAN and create our Art regardless of the negative messaging.
I'm not asking permission to be an Artist, I don't need to and neither do you. I must make and create my Art and live my heart's gifts, as it is my calling, my birthright. It is woven into the ancestral fabric of my very being and creating is a way of authentically being me in the world. So who am I? I'm an Artist, a Sacred Rebel who isn't going to be told that my Art and creativity have no value.
First I want to acknowledge how very blessed I have been. I have been a creative entrepreneur my entire life and a successful working Artist for the past 15 years. I am currently a full-time nomadic Artist, traveling with my Beloved husband Aurelius (my partner in creative chaos) and our sweet kitty baby Merlin. We are on an incredible journey traveling around the entire United States meeting and interviewing Artists from all backgrounds and mediums to learn why Art matters to them. How Art, theirs and others, has impacted their lives.
I think Brene Brown says it best, and we agree wholeheartedly, that we can use “Art and creative expression as a means for self-empowerment, self-development, spiritual growth, connecting to our vulnerable powerful self and actively manifesting in our lives.”
We are going to explore what Art means to Artists all over the US, when they began Arting, and what are the different messages they’ve received from family, friends, teachers, and society about being Artistic, creative, or even owning the title Artist. We are going to dive into the good, the bad, and the ugly that we’ve received as Artists, and hopefully throughout the course of these interviews we will begin to shape a New Paradigm where Art is recognized as crucial and indispensable for fostering a healthy human culture.
